The people in the counter-extremism sector are essential to our success in countering terrorism, preventing violent extremism, and tackling disinformation, polarisation, and hate. Yet, building the collective professional capacity and resilience to the psychological impact that comes with this work across this sector has been underprioritized.
To address the issues and challenges we face, we are excited to relaunch the Glitterpill Community - a community of care, support, and resilience.
Through the Glitterpill Community, we provide resources, research, and knowledge tied to the work we engage with every day. We have also designed the community to address secondary trauma, the isolating effects of consuming extremist content, and the impact of events on those operating in this sector.
The Glitterpill Community builds on our human-centric approach to countering and preventing violent extremism, which we at Glitterpill define as the violent denial of diversity. As a countermeasure to this, we strive for the community to be diverse, inclusive, and welcoming. To accomplish this, we seek to build a global community, address the needs of neurodivergent researchers, and ensure a safe space for minorities and members of underrepresented communities working in the sector.
Community support is essential to creating long-term change. We facilitate long-term change through the development of self-care practices and by providing resources and spaces to learn, develop, and recover after challenging work and exposure to the worst of humanity.

Researchers and Academics: This community comprises professionals who delve into the study, analysis, and interpretation of patterns of radicalisation and extremist behavior. By unraveling the underpinnings of extremism, they play a critical role in formulating strategies and policies aimed at countering radical ideologies and violent extremism. Tech and Trust & Safety Professionals: Occupying a central position in counter-extremism efforts, these professionals are tasked with the creation and enforcement of guidelines and policies on their platforms to curb the proliferation of extremist content. They also devise and enforce safety measures to shield users from harmful or radicalizing content, and collaborate with other professionals in the field to understand and tackle online extremism. Intelligence Professionals: Specialists in counter-extremism, Intelligence Professionals are adept at analyzing and interpreting patterns related to extremist behavior and radical ideologies.
